DJ, producer and Bass Jamz co-founder, Gaskin, has announced a special, three-part debut album, Energy Crew, with part 1 out now featuring our focus track, 'Livin' It Up'.
Comprised of 19 tracks in total, Energy Crew is a record bound by emotion and sentiment, anchored in his hometown of Newcastle — birthplace of his event brand and label, Bass Jamz. Written as a tribute to childhood friend and fellow Bass Jamz co-founder, Humby, who sadly passed away three years ago, Energy Crew has been compiled in three parts, with tracks falling into three distinct categories; reminiscing, partying and honouring. Part 2 and Part 3 are set to drop later on this summer.
Some tracks were fleshed out from early beat sketches that Gaskin and Humby had shared, while others were written on a recent winter writing camp in Bali — a cathartic process that Gaskin felt allowed him to pour his own emotions into his music properly for the first time.

Also featuring contributions from Bass Jamz artists Wildish, Ellia Jaya and Mizbee, as well as vocalist Stee Downes, each six-track album Part will feature two from each category, to give listeners the time and space to take in the stories and textures underpinning each individual track. From the upfront, ‘90s-core pressure of peaktime groover, ‘Make You Sweat’, to emotional hyperpop closer, ‘G Life’, Part 1 feels like a perfect entry point to the Energy Crew philosophy.
Energy Crew was the name Gaskin and his late childhood friend Humby gave to themselves as aspiring young DJs, with Gaskin deciding that now felt like the right time to honour the bond that has gone on to bring the Bass Jamz crew so much success in the world of electronic music.
“Energy Crew is a story built from 19 tracks that have all come together over the last two years”, Gaskin notes. “It’s about the crazy journey that me and my team are on, and also in memory of my brother and co-founder of Bass Jamz, Humby, who sadly passed away three years ago. The intro to the album tells the story .. it’s about the blood, sweat and tears we’ve put into this, and how we’re now finally living the good life off the back of it all. But even after everything we’ve been through, this still feels like just the beginning.”
