Jack Savoretti shares, ‘Tempting Fate’ the new single from his #2 charting album We Will Always Be The Way We Were with his old friend and peer KT Tunstall.
Recorded by Tommaso Colliva (Damon Albarn, Muse) at Studio 13 off Ladbroke Grove and at KT’s home studio in California, it’s a collaboration that brings the duo together for the first time. ‘Tempting Fate’ lands as both celebrate their own 20-year career anniversaries and comes with a sense of occasion and legacy. Having both emerged from the same musical heartland of early noughties Notting Hill, this release sees them working alongside the same musicians each grew up making music with (Nikolaj Torp Larsen and Sam Lewis).
While Savoretti has previously given glimpses of his soul credentials on singles like ‘What More Can I Do’, Italian/ English rendition of classic ‘You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me/Io Che Non Vivo Senza Te’ and deep cuts like ‘Solitude’, ‘Tempting Fate’ is unashamedly traditional soul. Seductive bass lines build tension alongside waltzing hi hats and crunchy electric guitar stabs only to be unchained by that unmistakably lush and holy sound of the Hammond organ and Leslie amp.

Marking 20 years since his debut, Between the Minds, We Will Always Be The Way We Were finds Savoretti reconnecting with the raw storytelling and cinematic soul that first defined his sound. Recorded at Eastcote Studios in West London with his long-time touring band, the album was written and captured live over eight days, reflecting the spontaneity, camaraderie and creative freedom that have shaped his two-decade career.
Jack Savoretti will be heading out on his biggest UK and European tour to date later this year. A 28-date run across 11 countries this autumn opens in Athens on September 25, with the tour travelling across Europe before arriving in the UK on October 21, with dates in Plymouth, Manchester, Glasgow, Dublin, Cardiff, Birmingham and more.
