French electronic duo Justice release new single ‘Incognito’, the latest track to be taken from eagerly-anticipated new album Hyperdrama, out on April 26.
‘Incognito’ opens with cinematic grandiosity before the song abruptly changes pace, plunging into a synth-laden odyssey and continuing the theme of the unexpected – which runs throughout the forthcoming album. The double Grammy-winning duo’s new single follows comeback singles ‘One Night/All Night starring Tame Impala’ and ‘Generator’ which were released in January. Though the release date and artwork for new album Hyperdrama have been revealed, further details such as its full tracklisting are still under wraps.
Of ‘Incognito’, Justice say: “Like many songs on this record, it switches from all electronic to all human music abruptly, multiple times within its four minute run. The structure is dictated by what feels good at the moment it happens, without necessarily following any other rule. We had to unlearn everything we thought we knew about song structures, and music in general, when we started working on ‘Hyperdrama’, which was very refreshing.

Proving how all-encompassing the French touch style can be, Justice – the duo of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay – adds prog, metal, new wave, and indie to their vintage funk, disco, and house foundations. Starting with the Grammy-nominated 2007 single ‘D.A.N.C.E.’ and that year’s full-length † (aka Cross), the Parisian duo defined the brash, stylish appeal of their label, Ed Banger Records, in the mid- to late 2000s. From there, their music grew bolder and more unexpected.
They cranked up the riffs on 2011’s Audio, Video, Disco, collaborated with the London Contemporary Orchestra on 2016’s Woman and mashed up their own songs on 2018’s Grammy-winning Woman Worldwide. With every release, Justice have reimagined the genre-bending possibilities of a world where all music is available to hear — and recombine — in an instant.
Justice were recently announced as a headliner of Field Day Festival, as well as topline performer at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which will act as the debut performance of their as-yet-unseen new live show. The festival adds to an already busy slate of festival appearances for the band this year, with more dates to be announced soon
