LOCKED IN is Nemzzz’s most focused and cohesive body of work to date. Following Do Not Disturb and UK Top 10 mixtape Rent’s Due, the project captures an artist entering a new stage of his career, sharpening the sound and mentality that have taken him from Gorton, South Manchester to a rapidly expanding global audience.
Across 17 tracks, LOCKED IN brings together the different sides of Nemzzz’s sound while underlining the increasingly global scale of his world. Alongside Travis Scott on ‘GASS’, the mixtape features collaborations with Lil Yachty, Cash Cobain, Latto and Tunde, balancing major international link ups with the distinctive Manchester identity that remains at the heart of Nemzzz’s music.
The road to LOCKED IN has seen Nemzzz steadily build out the world of the project through a run of releases including ‘GEEKIN’ featuring Lil Yachty, ‘Locked In Freestyle’, ‘KILLIN EM’, ‘Prince Of The Scene’ and ‘4AM’. Each release has revealed a different dimension of Nemzzz’s sound, from the infectious energy of ‘KILLIN EM’ to the late night introspection of ‘4AM’, which arrived alongside a cinematic black and white visual shot by long term collaborators Don Prod.
The arrival of LOCKED IN follows a period of enormous momentum for Nemzzz. Already one of the UK’s most streamed rappers, he has amassed billions of streams globally, with multiple tracks surpassing 100 million streams on Spotify. His collaborations have included Central Cee, AJ Tracey, Lil Yachty and Latto, while continued support from Drake and influential figures across music and culture has helped propel his profile far beyond the UK.
Despite that increasingly international reach, Manchester remains central to Nemzzz’s identity. Born and raised in Gorton, he has continued to base himself in the city as his career has expanded globally, bringing a distinctly Manchester perspective to a generation of British rap that has historically been dominated by London.
