Nothing But Thieves

Nothing But Thieves share grunge-influenced ‘Baby Kool (Evelyn)’ from new album

Nothing But Thieves continue to showcase their versatility and ambition with new single, 'Baby Kool (Evelyn)’, the latest track shared from their forthcoming fifth record, Stray Dogs, released on September 25 via RCA/Sony Music.

‘Baby Kool (Evelyn)’ sees the band channel shared influences of Nirvana, Sonic Youth and The Pixies into a 90s grunge and indie rock inspired song, which received its global first play at BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record. The anthemic track is a progressive alt-rock song that fluctuates in both atmosphere and intensity, showcasing Conor Mason’s full vocal breadth and building to a memorable melodic chorus. Thematically referencing the community of music and fandom through the metaphors of loneliness, connection and euphoria, the song is accompanied by a surreal 90s inspired video by Maxim Kelly (Hot Chip, Shame) featuring a prominent ‘pink man’ character and Evelyn the (stray) dog.

The band says, This one felt like we wandered back into Dom’s garage, where the band started. It’s got one foot in glam and the other in grunge. Those two worlds’ probably shouldn’t get along, which is maybe why they did. We often find that’s where the interesting stuff is.”

With an ever-evolving world-building approach both musically and visually, Nothing But Thieves returned to their roots – literally and thematically – during their recent time in the studio, recording at Angelic Studios where they made their debut record, looking back to how they began with a DIY spirit rooted in authenticity.

Rather than carving new ideas out on the road, their new record was written in unison over a dedicated five month period, resulting in the band creating their most liberating and cohesive work to date. New album Stray Dogs speaks to the power of community, belonging and the collective shared experiences that unite outsiders, including the immediate ‘stray dogs’ in the band’s own world and their dedicated legion of fans.

Last month saw the band support Biffy Clyro at Finsbury Park in London, ahead of supporting them in Edinburgh later this month, alongside a host of festival performances across Europe, including a headline show at Electric Castle in Romania.

Recently the band announced their biggest headline tour to date commencing in January 2027 with shows across the UK & Ireland, Europe, the United States and Canada. Dates include Manchester’s Co-Op Live, London’s O2 Arena and  European shows at the 23,000 capacity AFAS Dome in Antwerp and two nights at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome, which both sold out straight away.
