Sport Playlists: Five A-Side – cheapcuts

Taking part in our Five A-Side feature on Matchweek 6 of the 2026/27 Premier League season is Jack Leonard of cheapcuts.

Five A-Side sees us put five questions to our artists ahead of the upcoming Premier League round of games. Four questions relate to the games taking place in the top flight that weekend, with the fifth centred around the team they support, whatever league they happen to be in. They’ll earn points for each correct answer, and we’ll keep track of every artist’s progress. Matchweek 5 of the season prior to the international break saw Jack & Harry Dacey (The Bracknall) score 3 and 1 points out of a possible 15 points respectively.

cheapcuts are producers, writers and artists Jonny Harris and Jack Leonard, a duo whose music reimagines the energy of Big Beat and ’90s rave culture for a new generation. Their debut release ‘Check Your Phone’ featuring Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz hit the US Top 30 Billboard Alternative after premiering with an exclusive with Zane Lowe on Apple Beats One. Their latest single, ‘Business’, featuring former Audio Bullys frontman Franksy, was picked to feature on the soundtrack for the latest edition of the iconic football gaming series EA SPORTS FC. You can listen to the track on the game’s official playlist on Spotify.

While his bandmate Jonny is an Arsenal fan, Jack’s love for the red side of Manchester dates back to the 90s and a certain iconic midfielder.

“I would say Manchester United was all about [David] Beckham for me, which started with THAT goal against Wimbledon in 1996 (funnily enough, I have a mate who was at that game who was tying his shoelace just as scored it!). The confidence and never say die spirit of that team was everything, and IMO has been unmatched since. After that goal, supporting Huddersfield (where I’m from) seemed unthinkable.

“I had every one of Beckham’s hair cuts from the ages of 9-13 (up to the Mohawk for World Cup 2002). It made for some horrendous school photos, but an amazing time to be alive.”

Five A-Side: Premier League Matchweek 6: Jack Leonard (cheapcuts)

  • Nailed on win this weekend (1 point): Chelsea to beat Bournemouth.
Jack – “They’ve had a bit of an inconsistent start, but I’m betting Chelsea to be challenging for the title this year. [Xabi] Alonso is a real talent, and their front three are undeniable.”

  • Shock win of the weekend (2 points): Leeds to beat Arsenal.
Jack – Leeds are unbeaten this year, James Trafford is a very safe pair of hands and I reckon the momentum is with them… for now.

  • Most likely game to see a red card given in (3 points): Manchester Ciyt v Liverpool.
    Jack – Enzo
Fernandez to get a straight red. 1. He’s a dirty b*****d so it’s a safe bet to place, and 2. I reckon the pressure around the 115 charges scandal will get the better of them, and the Kop wont let them forget it. Let the redemption begin.

  • Wildcard prediction for the weekend (4pts)
    Jack
    – Man United will beat Spurs and [Roberto] De Zerbi will be sacked immediately after the game.

  • Prediction for Manchester United’s Premier League game at home to Tottenham Hotspur (3pts for correct result, 2pts for correct scoreline): Man Utd to win 6-0.
    Jack –
I refer you back to my answer for Question 4. I’m feeling cautiously optimistic.
