Taking part in our Five A-Side feature on Matchweek 7 of the 2026/27 Premier League season is PG Ciarletta.
Five A-Side sees us put five questions to our artists ahead of the upcoming Premier League round of games. Four questions relate to the games taking place in the top flight that weekend, with the fifth centred around the team they support, whatever league they happen to be in. They’ll earn points for each correct answer, and we’ll keep track of every artist’s progress. Matchweek 6 of the season prior to the international break saw Jack Leonard (cheapcuts) score 4 points out of a possible 15 points.
Renowned for his distinctive vocals, relatable inner-city folktale lyrics, rousing anthems, and cheeky charm, PG Ciarletta is progressing as an ever evolving singer-songwriter in Scotland, the UK, and beyond. With a rapidly growing fanbase, he is building real momentum as the latest singer-songwriter in a long line of Scots with Italian heritage. His real life relatable humble inner- city folktale story-telling narratives, combined with indie rock anthemic melodies and hooks – have earned him acclaim with Scottish football fans, with PG performing at fan events at both the 2024 UEFA European Championships and the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Last month marked the release of his new single, ‘Worldwide Tension’, which you can listen to on our New Releases playlist.
Alongside his passion for the Tartan Army, PG is a lifelong fan of the green and white side of his beloved home city of Glasgow, Celtic, something which he didn’t have much choice in growing up:
“It ran in my family on my Mum’s side. My Grandad was from Donegal, and my gran was a massive Celtic fan from the West of Scotland and passed it on to many of my uncles, aunts and cousins. Then I remember growing up watching some great Celtic sides with players such as Larsson, Nakamura and more.
“I’ve been lucky enough to be invited in to go on the Official Celtic podcast and recently my song ‘Play It On Repeat’ was played in the stadium. Both are great moments I will always remember. “
Five A-Side: Premier League Matchweek 7: PG Ciarletta
- Nailed on win this weekend (1 point): Arsenal to beat Nottingham Forest.
PG – “I think Arsenal has the strongest squad in the Premier League and will have a bit too much quality for Forest.”
- Shock win of the weekend (2 points): Coventry to win away at Tottenham.
PG – “Based on Spurs’ start to the season it may not be considered as big a shock, but it would still be an upset. I think Tottenham’s start has been poor, so it is believable that Coventry can get the win.“
- Most likely game to see a red card given in (3 points – bonus point for correct player sent off): Brighton vs Crystal Palace.
PG – “Sometimes called the M23 derby, so there is a rivalry there. Axel Disasi has been sent off this season already so I will go with him again.“
- Wildcard prediction for the weekend (4pts)
PG – “John McGinn to score two goals or more for Aston Villa vs Newcastle. Great guy, player and one of the Scottish greats in the Premier League. He’s been great for Aston Villa.”
- Prediction for Celtic’s Scottish Premiership game at home to Hearts (3pts for correct result, 2pts for correct scoreline): Celtic to win 2-1.
PG – “It has been a rollercoaster start to the season so far. Hearts have started really well and I think they will challenge at the top of the table. I do think Celtic will pull it together after a couple of bad results and get back into form. It will be a tough game, but Celtic do have the better players. I’ve got to predict Høgh and Durán will click into form and get on the scoresheet.”
