The Script share rock-leaning single ‘Home Is Where The Hurt Is’

The Script share, ‘Home Is Where The Hurt Is’, one of the many highlights from their recently released UK #2 charting album Satellites.

While Satellites often unites the emotional intensity of its lyrics with fresh new sounds, ‘Home Is Where The Hurt Is’ is a classic huge Script moment: a rock-leaning anthem perfectly suited for rousing audiences throughout their upcoming arena shows. The lyrics are similarly inspiring, with a touchingly nostalgic reference to their one of their first big hits ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’ as well as a personal touch from Danny O’Donoghue with the lyric, “Ohana ohana, no one left behind, we’re broken in pieces but the pieces are mine.” Ohana is an Hawaiian word meaning nobody gets left behind.

Danny says: “It’s about my upbringing, about how the things that break us make us who we are. Ohana is the name of our family Whatsapp group. Because after all the shit that we’ve been through in our past, it’s just important that our family sticks together.”

Vowing to pay tribute to their friend Mark Sheehan by continuing the band they had built together, vocalist Danny O’Donoghue returned to the studio and experimented in a number of ways: using 808s and playing with R&B-inspired sounds, focusing on upbeats sonics, and co-writing with hitmakers Steve Robson (Rascal Flatts, Take That) and Wayne Hector (One Direction, Nicki Minaj) as well as bandmate Glen Power. What emerged is Satellites, an utterly uplifting collection of songs that forges a new future for The Script while remembering that although Mark may no longer be here, he remains a vital part of everything that they do.

Satellites proved to be an inspiring comeback, a record that was greeted with critical acclaim while also achieving their eighth consecutive #1 in album Ireland and #2 in the UK. The passion and support that the bands fans – known as The Script family – have shown them has continued to be remarkable, leading to every single UK and Ireland arena show on their upcoming tour selling out in advance – and those shows will contribute to the band playing to more than two million people over the course of the year.

The phenomenal public demand for tickets for next month’s tour has resulted in The Script making big plans for next summer, with the confirmation of a series of big outdoor shows scheduled alongside prime billing at The Isle of Wight Festival.
