The Snuts share fourth taster of ‘Joy In Short Moments’

The Snuts today release their new single, ‘In Motion’, the latest track taken from their forthcoming fourth album, Joy In Short Moments - out on October 23 via Happy Artist Records in partnership with Virgin Music Group.

Returning to the anthemic, guitar-driven sound of the band’s early festival favourites, ‘In Motion’ became a standout moment during their recent sold-out European tour, earning an incredible response from the crowd each night. The run included sold-out shows in Paris, Amsterdam and Cologne, alongside an appearance at Lollapalooza Berlin last week.

‘In Motion’ – the new record’s opener –  reflects frontman Jack Cochrane’s search for meaning in everyday life. Inspired by the idea that the choices we make today set our futures in motion, the song explores impermanence, personal growth and the enduring connection between two people moving through life together.

Speaking about the track, Jack Cochrane says: “Yung Pueblo describes ‘in motion’ as the essence of life and healing, emphasising that our present actions, driven by self-awareness, set our future in motion.

“I jotted the title down in my notebook and felt that a time would present itself during the writing process to explore what it could mean for me. Joy In Short Moments became as much a navigational instrument for life as it did a record. It allowed me to better understand where the decisions I make on a daily basis might be leading me.

“Within the track, I’m exploring the idea of making peace with the busyness and pace of life. I’m accepting impermanence in a way that previously would have terrified me. It also explores the idea of a life companion and the devotion you feel towards the person you’re travelling through the cosmos with.”

Joy In Short Moments is the sound of a band stepping back from the noise. Where previous records were made in a state of perpetual movement, this one was written from the other side of it – after Jack Cochrane moved back home, became a father, and began asking the questions that constant touring had kept at bay. The result is The Snuts’ most grounded record, and their most direct.
