Globally adored modern Irish folk trio Amble greet the summer with, 'The Swell', out now via Warner Records.
Upbeat in both sound and spirit, the new single is a heart-racing tribute to letting go of small worries and embracing the remarkable beauty of the present.
‘The Swell’ unites Amble with producer Phil Weinrobe (Adrianne Lenker, Billie Martin), and finds the band at their most upbeat and nimble to date. Oisin McCaffrey and Ross McNerney lay down the driving acoustic guitar and banjo, while Robbie Cunningham infuses his rich vocal with rare lightness: “Yeah! I’m the best that I’m ever going to be / The prime of my life passing before me / But I know I will remember those who treated me well / Before we fall even further on the swell.” He gives a little space to his anxieties within the bursting mix of strings and percussion, but the takeaway is pure joy.

The band explained, “‘The Swell’ is about the madness of giving up a 9-5 desk job for life on a tour bus. It’s a shock to the body and mind! Waking up in a different city every morning, shaking off any doubts and worries you have in your own personal life – all in order to give people the very “best” of yourself on stage every night. The wave of gratitude you experience as people connect with the music every night makes it all worthwhile. Smell the roses!”
The release caps off an extraordinary stateside run for Amble, who made their American television debut on The Kelly Clarkson Show on May 29. Then, on June 11, they played Nashville’s iconic Grand Ole Opry for the first time (premiering ‘The Swell’), before making their Bonnaroo main stage debut the next day. The day after that, Amble opened for Ed Sheeran at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ, playing to over 70,000 fans. They also just added a handful of North American dates to their itinerary, which already included stops at major festivals like Newport Folk, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands.
In April, Amble released the single ‘Moral Victory’, an immersive swirl of strum, strings, and harmonium that depicts a fading picture of romance with both personal tenderness and poetic grace. That poignant work added to the new chapter they opened up with ‘The Rarest Hour’, a beautifully spare, classic Irish ballad that explores nostalgia’s bittersweet pull and the indifference of time. They also recently released a music video for 2024 fan-favourite ‘Of Land and Sea’, complete with gorgeous footage of their homeland.
Amble’s busy 2026 follows a phenomenal 2025 in which they toured U.S. arenas and stadiums with Hozier, amassed 151 million global streams, sold 130,000 headline tickets, and released their debut album Reverie, which held #1 on the Irish charts for multiple weeks, giving Amble the biggest Irish debut since 2018 and becoming the country’s most streamed Irish LP of the year.
