‘Gold’ was written by Gary Kemp and is an iconic song which has achieved folk song status as one of the public’s most loved songs, with its lyrics known by everyone, which has become synonymous with sporting events, particularly football and is a people’s anthem to celebrate sporting achievement.
Spandau Ballet’s links with dance music go back to the 1980s, when their groundbreaking early electronic and funk dance hits helped create modern club culture. They were the first UK artists to play at the KU Club (now Univrs) Ibiza with a legendary show in July 1981.
