Artist, producer, DJ and cultural trailblazer Peggy Gou releases her latest single, 'Wo,man', featuring Ayra Starr via XL Recordings.
A euphoric summer dancefloor anthem based around themes of independence and shared joy, ‘Wo,man’ ushers in a new chapter from one of dance music’s most globally-revered phenomena – and the latest evolution in a creative relationship between two of the most compelling voices in contemporary music.
Propelled by Peggy’s signature uplifting, celebratory production – and in “Adigidang dang dang di dang” one of the summer’s most infectious vocal hooks – ‘Wo,man’ sees Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr bringing her irresistible energy to the record. The track’s lyrical heart is a rallying cry: a call to the dancefloor that transcends gender. With its spiralling hook already destined for dancefloors worldwide, ‘Wo,man’ continues the run of summer touchstones Peggy Gou has made her own, from the underground to overground breakout of ‘Starry Night’ to the global chart hit of ‘(It Goes Like) Nanana’ and beyond.

“When I was working on ‘Wo,man’, I knew I wanted a voice that could match the song’s uplifting energy for summer. The moment I shared it with Ayra, she got it instantly. Bringing our two worlds together felt completely natural, and she brought the perfect balance of sexiness and swag into the record. I hope this record brings fun summer memories to all who love it.” says Peggy.
Ayra adds, “I love Peggy – she’s such a cool artist. It was so much fun to make this song with her. It felt like such a summer vibe – I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it!“
Accompanied by a video from acclaimed director Onda (Megan Thee Stallion, Big Sean, Pusha T), the collaboration is rooted in an already-established creative relationship. Earlier this year, Peggy lent her production touch to Starr’s single ‘Where Do We Go’, delivering a remix that instantly underlined the natural chemistry between them. That mutual understanding is fully realised here. It continues a moment of remarkable creative momentum for Gou, whose recent remix of Madonna’s ‘I Feel So Free’ also drew widespread praise and underlined her rare ability to operate across genre boundaries.
Amongst a run of huge festival and headline appearances, this summer also brings one of the most anticipated UK live events of the year for Peggy: a headline show at Greenwich’s Royal Naval College on August 2. It follows similarly sold-out Midnight Lobster Club events in Brooklyn and Ibiza, interspersed with diverse, defining live moments from the Australian Open, Chanel Replica’s Korean launch and more.
