Maddox Jones shares ‘One Minute’ as latest taste of second album

Northampton’s rising star Maddox Jones shares another taste of his highly anticipated second album with the track ‘One Minute’.

Produced and co-written with UK songwriter, Angus Parkin, ‘One Minute’ sees Maddox pulling from his indie rock roots. Driven by a heavy bass guitar groove and expanding into an anthemic sing-along hook, ‘One Minute’ serves as a reminder to live life in the moment, with a nostalgic story of looking back at old photos and wishing to relive those blissfully romantic moments of the past.

On the track, Maddox says: “‘One Minute’ came together completely by accident. It was written with Angus Parkin in a day and my label, Radikal Records, loved the demo so much that we decided to release that version. It was inspired by looking at an old photograph and wanting to be back in that moment again and imagining having one minute in that moment again. We all take things for granted so this is a reminder to get the most out of life’s beautiful moments.”

Set against the backdrop of a Norfolk beach, the new music video transports viewers back in time for just ‘one minute’. The video explores the emotional turmoil of obsessing over a memory, where an imagined version of events keeps you trapped, reliving moments without the ability to move on. Directed by Alex Gwyn Davies and shot by cinematographer Triss Qian, the video was produced by the up-and-coming creative studio, Tortellini Creative. The team also included assistant director Harrison Joyce-Carr, with Romy Ben-Hur co-starring in the video.

The new release follows-up Maddox’s hit, ‘England Together’, released in support of England’s Euros 2024 campaign and raising money for mental health charity Head in the Game. Serving as a celebratory echo of the team and sparking a national call for unity within the sport, the track brought Maddox into the spotlight with appearances on national TV on Sky Sports, ITV News and multiple BBC Radio interviews across the country.

Maddox enjoyed early success with The Departure, securing four Top 40 hits, sharing the stage with iconic bands such as The Killers and Placebo, and playing prestigious festivals like Reading & Leeds and Glastonbury. Maddox has a track record of electrifying performances alongside notable acts like Thomas Heaton, Beaux, The Lottery Winners and Lemar.

Having burst onto the scene as a solo artist in 2020 with the critically acclaimed EP, ‘Headspace’, the EP reached #4 in the iTunes Singer-Songwriter chart. The follow-up 2021 single, ‘Can’t Wait for the Summer’ followed suit, hitting the top spot on the same chart. Tipped as One to Watch by BBC Introducing Northampton, Maddox has garnered further acclaim across the industry, earning a spot at #5 on Music Week’s Commercial Pop and Upfront Club Chart with ‘Make Me Yours’ off his debut album Believe It.

Maddox recently announced that he’ll be opening a large portion of Will Young’s comeback tour across the UK later this month, where he’ll be sharing new songs off his upcoming album.
