Silverstone have announced Kings of Leon as the Thursday headliners at the 2024 British Grand Prix, joining Stormzy, Pete Tong & Rudimental across the race weekend.
Recognised as one of the biggest alternative rock bands in the world, the multiple Grammy and Brit-award winning band will take to the stage for the Grand Prix’s iconic Opening Concert on July 4 2024.
Having attracted record crowds of 480,000 this summer, Silverstone is set to go bigger and better in 2024 with an unprecedented four-day festival line-up. Keeping fans entertained on Friday night will be South London’s own grime icon Stormzy, whilst legendary DJ Pete Tong brings his “Presents Ibiza Classics” show to the track on Saturday. Sunday’s race day and the weekend will be closed out by DnB trio Rudimental.
Fans flocked to Silverstone’s newly-expanded music arena throughout the 2023 British Grand Prix to be entertained by a stellar line up of artists such as Calvin Harris, Tom Grennan, Cat Burns, Jess Glynne, Black Eyed Peas and Jax Jones. For 2024, ticket holders will once again enjoy four gigantic evenings of live music and entertainment at no extra cost.
As part of the 2023 event, Sport Playlists parent company Shoot Music teamed with F1 to launch their new music initiative dedicated to championing new and emerging talent, F1 Tracks: Discovery. The initiative highlights the next generation of artists, supporting them on their journey by driving their music to Formula 1 fans, with selected Discovery artists Michael Aldag, AntsLive and Only The Poets – along with headliner picks Rose Gray, Tejy and Charlotte Plank – opening the Main Stage at Silverstone’s expanded 45,000 capacity music arena.
F1 Tracks: Discovery was the latest development in the world’s most prestigious motor racing competition’s association with the world of music, which has continued to grow since the establishment of F1 Tracks. Launched ahead of the 2019 British Grand Prix, the playlist has been a massive hit with fans of the sport, with over 90,000 people following the core F1 Tracks on Spotify.
Available to fans across Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music and SoundCloud, F1 Tracks is updated according to key filter categories on a weekly basis, uniting global superstars with the sounds of F1. F1 Tracks has over 90 playlists available for fans to stream alongside the core F1 Tracks playlist, with a host of major artists, F1 drivers and teams having selected tracks and curated bespoke playlists.
2022 saw F1 Tracks launch the “Best of British” playlist across that year’s British Grand Prix weekend. Setting the soundtrack to all of the action at Silverstone, the playlist celebrates some of the UK’s best modern artists across a plethora of genres.
On the 2024 headliners, Silverstone’s Commercial Director Nick Read said: “We are incredibly excited to have global icons Kings of Leon join our line-up for the 2024 British Grand Prix. Our long-term ambition has always been to attract the biggest and best artists in the world to Silverstone to put on a spectacular show for the British fans.
“With Kings of Leon now joining Stormzy, Rudimental and Pete Tong on next year’s line-up, it’s fair to say the 2024 British Grand Prix is going to be bigger and better than ever before!”
