Listen to all the music getting you ready for racing at the home of British motorsport with The Sound of Silverstone Official Playlist.
Having hosted the inaugural British Grand Prix in 1948 – two years prior to the formation of what we now know today as Formula 1 – the DNA of motor racing in the UK can be traced directly to Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire. Built on the site of a former World War II RAF base and owned by the The British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC), the circuit plays host to a variety of motorsport classifications across the year, including the British Touring Cars Championship, Moto GP, British GT Championship and the three-day Silverstone Festival.
The crown in the jewel of the circuit is Formula 1’s British Grand Prix, which Silverstone has been the permanent host of since 1987 and recently signed a new deal to host the race until 2034. Having attracted over 480k spectators across the 2023 weekend, it continues to be one of the most popular events on the F1 calendar as fans flock to get their spot on some of the circuits infamous sections, whether it be the high-speed Hangar Straight heading into Stowe, the twist and turns of the Maggots, Becketts and Chapel curve, or a prime spot on the Start/Finish line on the Hamilton Straight.
Music has played a major part in shaping why fans can expect non-stop action on and off the track at Silverstone in recent years, as the four days of racing complimented by some of the artists performing at the circuit’s music arena have made it a place where where speed meets sound, from the roar of the engines as the cars shoot round the track, to the roar of a crowd watching some of their favourite musicians perform. To bring those worlds together and celebrate all the sounds you can expect to hear in and around the circuit, Silverstone have launched the The Sound Of Silverstone playlist, available to stream and like and Spotify.
Topping the playlist are some of the artists who will be entertaining fans across the 2024 British Grand Prix weekend in July, with an unprecedented four-day festival line-up at the circuit’s music arena, newly expanded to hold up to 45,000 spectators for the 2023 race weekend. They include some of the headliners on the main stage including alternative rock giants Kings of Leon, South London grime icon Stormzy and British drum and bass group Rudimental.
The Sound of Silverstone is also packed with big beats from some of the world’s best DJs, some of whom will be keeping the party going late into the night in the Mahiki tent. Back for 2024, the legendary London tiki paradise bring their their sun-drenched cocktails and vibes every evening once the action is over on the track. Headline acts in the Mahiki tent featured on the playlist include a trio of hit making British DJs: Joel Corry, Nathan Dawe and Majestic, with the latter set to bring some special guests along for the final set of the weekend on Sunday night.
The rest of the playlist is rounded out by some of the biggest new tunes across a wide range of generes, provided courtesy of Sport Playlists and updated on a weekly basis.
