Taking part in our Five A-Side feature on Matchweek 9 of the 2026/27 Premier League season is Euan Mail of Rosellas.
Five A-Side sees us put five questions to our artists ahead of the upcoming Premier League round of games. Four questions relate to the games taking place in the top flight that weekend, with the fifth centred around the team they support, whatever league they happen to be in. They’ll earn points for each correct answer, and we’ll keep track of every artist’s progress. Matchweek 8 of the season saw Glenn Smyth of Solar Eyes score 4 points out of a possible 15 points.
Inspired by a mix of artists ranging from the singalong choruses of Sam Fender to the psychedelic, reverb-soaked guitars associated with Pink Floyd, Manchester quartet Rosellas continue to develop their recognisable and unique sound by utilising cutting-edge production techniques paired with whispery harmonies. They are set to release their new EP Across All Skies on November 20, with the group changing their writing approach ahead of the forthcoming body of work, heading into the studio only with the very beginning of formative ideas, roughly sketched out in the form of voice memos and demos, with the aim of writing the songs in the studio environment. You can listen to their latest single, ‘Suddenly Something’, on our New Releases playlist on Spotify.
Rhythm guitarist Ean Mail is a lifelong fan of Hull City, with his love for the Tigers being a family affair.
“It comes from my Dad, who has followed The Tigers up and down the country. I was never going to support anyone else. UTT.”
Five A-Side: Premier League Matchweek 9: Euan Mail (Rosellas)
- Nailed on win this weekend (1 point): Aston Villa to beat Fulham.
Euan – “Villa were brilliant against Man City on Saturday so I’ll say they’ll beat Fulham. Villa look like they’re starting to click after a turbulent summer, and [Nicolas] Jackson is on fire at the moment! Saying that, Fulham have won two on the bounce so they won’t be pushovers, but I think Villa will have too much for them.”
- Shock win of the weekend (2 points): Brighton to win away at Man City.
Euan – “It might not be that much of a shock seeing as Brighton are 3rd, but they look a really good team this season. Man City looked a bit fragile against Villa so maybe Brighton can take advantage of that. I think [Fabian] Hurzeler is a fantastic manager.”
- Most likely game to see a red card given in (3 points – bonus point for correct player sent off): Chelsea v Manchester United.
Euan – “These types of games can always throw up a red card, and I can see Martinez losing his head when the goals start flying in. Chelsea have been good going forward this season and will want to bounce back after Saturday.”
- Wildcard prediction for the weekend (4pts)
Euan – “It does feel a bit early to be sacking managers but I can’t see [Michael] Carrick lasting much longer in that job an Man Utd. If they lose to Chelsea then surely he’ll be gone. I do feel for him because he did such a good job last season, but football changes quickly and I can’t imagine the board will justify sticking with him for much longer.“Either that or yet another Hull City player to flip their car on the way into training!”
- Prediction for Hull City’s EFL Premier League game at home to Ipswich (3pts for correct result, 2pts for correct scoreline): Hull to win 2-1.
Euan – “I fancy us in this one. Two promoted teams, both exceeding everyone’s expectations but both will see this as a real six pointer. The atmosphere at the KC this season has been really good so hopefully we can make that advantage count. We’re unbeaten at home so far so I hope we can extend that. Ipswich have impressed me this season to be fair, they’ve looked really good. I’m gonna say 2-1 City, [Ollie] McBurnie and [Mohamed] Belloumi to score. “
