‘Don’t Want To Sleep Alone’ combines the raw vulnerability of Australian pop-rock band Joan & The Giants with the lush, progressive electronic production of rising Anjunabeats artist J Ribbon (Johnny Newman).
Originally crafted as an intimate ballad about unrequited love and late-night longing in the original song ‘Sleep Alone’, this new collaborative rework preserves frontwoman Grace Newton-Wordsworth’s velvety, heart-on-her-sleeve vocal performance while surrounding it with the immersive and upbeat soundscapes that J Ribbon is quickly becoming known for.

J Ribbon subtly elevates the tension of the track, building from the quiet confessional verses into driving four-on-the-floor rhythms and soaring synth leads to match the vocals. With his recent releases having been heard on dance floors around the world over the past year, this new release looks to follow suit. J Ribbon’s heavy club tune ‘Redemption’ has featured in sets by Dom Dolla, Innellea, Cosmic Gate, Joris Voorn and many more over the summer while he held down his own residency at [UNVRS] in Ibiza this past August. The precocious artist now sets his sights on The Gorge Amphitheater in Washington state as he prepares to directly support label heads Above & Beyond at Group Therapy 700.
