British rocker The Kut shares ‘Fun When You’re Winning’ video for World Cup

British rock solo artist The Kut has released a new video for her single 'Fun When You're Winning' for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The  video release arrives alongside the start of UK & Ireland tour dates supporting Electric Six. ‘Fun When You’re Winning’ is taken from The Kut’s sophomore album GRIT, released earlier this year and topping the UK Official Rock Albums Chart.

Funded by Arts Council England, GRIT is a story of independence, passion and purpose. From the contagious ‘ANIMO’ to the closing punk rock strides of ‘And 1 More…’, their long awaited second release from oozes courage, resilience and punk rock spirit. It’s a knowing pep talk on following your instincts from one of the UK’s most hotly tipped underground artists.

Produced by James LeRock, The Kut, aka Princess Maha, leads on vocals and guitar on the album, as well as moonlighting as drummer and bassist on two tracks, with the rest performed by her musical touring collective: Violet Stow, Jayke Turl, Alison Wood, Diana Bartmann, Hannah Aero and Jennifer Sanin.

On her new album, The Kut said: “I’ve had to summon a lot of courage to overcome barriers. One of those barriers unfortunately is sexism. Another is the lack of fair pay for musicians that movements like #fixstreaming talk about. That’s why I called the album GRIT. It’s the psychology of getting back up when you fall”

Raised in Blackpool & disillusioned with school, Maha found comfort in the coils of punk rock “The teachers wrote me off. I felt misunderstood. I had coloured hair, would write songs, play guitar. I didn’t know where I fitted.”

It was in Southeast London at University that she became fascinated by mixing genres, drumming & breakbeats. She also finally found her line up, now a collective of seven on rotation: “The Kut is very much a collaborative project. We’re a line-up of friends with musical dreams, and it’s been amazing to record the new record together in this way thanks to the funding from Arts Council England. We can’t wait for everyone to hear it.” says Maha.
